| Welcome and News |
 |
This newsletter will be brief because, as you know from
last month's issue, I'm due to give birth soon and I have
a bit of nesting yet to do. But, believe it or not, I still
have two more public appearances to make, plus I'm
developing a new program that I'd like your help with so
I wanted to give you the information, as you'll see in the
article below, as soon as possible!
If you're in the New York City area, tomorrow
(Saturday, July 24) is the Harlem Book Fair. In the
morning you can have breakfast with me and authors
such as Eric Jerome Dickey and Donna Hill as we read
the nominees for the African American Literary Awards
Show's First Annual Open Book Awards. That's
happening at 10am-12noon at Mo-Bay Uptown, 17 West
125th Street between Lenox and Fifth Avenues.
Admission is $20. The main street fair, located on West
135th Street near Lenox Avenue, is free and opens at
noon. I'll be at the St. Martin's booth at 4pm signing
copies of my novel, "All I Need to Get By" and I believe
my publisher will also raffle off a few copies, so come
on by. I'd love to see you!
I'd like to welcome all new "Living the Dream"
subscribers, including my Clearview High School
classmates. We recently celebrated our 20th reunion
and though I couldn't travel to Lorain, Ohio in person,
our class president Karalynne Betzel-Vitas provided the
use of her cell phone and passed it around the room so I
could catch up with everyone in attendance. I felt like I
was really there. Thanks Karalynne!
Best wishes and be well. Sophfronia

| Meet The E-Zine Queen! |
 |
I get so many compliments on "Living the Dream" that I
thought it time to give credit where credit's due: to
Alexandria Brown. She's known as The E-Zine Queen
and she is THE source for learning how to build your
business by publishing your own e-zine. She offers
teleclasses, CDs, e-books and she's also a terriffic
public speaker. I had the pleasure of meeting Alexandria
in person last fall and we became fast friends. You can
tell she's someone who loves what she does. She's also
whip-smart and everything she writes is just stuffed
with valuable information. You can see for yourself by
signing up for one of her two free biweekly e-zines:
"Publish for Profits" is an award-winning publication that
will show you how to create your own e-zine, get plenty
of subscribers and promote your services/products in
the most friendly and attractive way possible. In
"Straight Shooter Marketing", Alexandria shares her
best tips for successful online marketing, including how
to drive more traffic to your web site.
I've had clients whom I've referred to Alexandria and
now they're publishing their own e-zines with great
satisfaction. You don't have to have a business to reap
the benefits of an e-zine. One of my clients wanted to
write more and share self-care information to help
women empower themselves, so she created an e-zine
that does just that. You could also write a newsletter to
show off your expertise in a particular subject and use it
as an extension of your resume to help you stand out
among other prospects when looking for a new job.
Writing an e-zine could be the right thing for you, so
check out Alexandria's site and get inspired. Happy
publishing!

| Are You Walking the Walk? |
 |
When 2004 began you had big plans: New Year's
resolutions, goals you wanted to accomplish, changes
you wanted to make. Now that the year is more than
half over, how is it going? Are you on point with your
goals? Or have you been doing more talking the talk
than walking the walk?
If you find you're all talk and no walk, then I want to
hear about it! What's keeping you from taking action?
What do you need to get you moving? I'm developing a
new program, "Walking the Walk", that will help people
do what they say they want to do and live the way they
say they want to live. My plan is to unveil the program
in a magazine article towards the end of the year and
your story could be featured in those pages. You can
help me develop "The Walk" and I will coach you to get
a fresh start on your 2004 goals.
To that end, I'm going to hold a day of free
consultations on Friday, July 30. You won't need an
appointment, just know that from 10am-8pm Eastern
time I will be available to speak with you about what
you've got going on in terms of your hopes, obstacles
and goals. You can reach me at 917-327-9673. By the
way, your 2004 goal might be to explore new career
options. Since so many of you downloaded my free
career report last month I'm providing it again here in
case that's the subject you want to discuss in your
consultation. A friend once told me, "start walking and
you will find your way". Give me a call and we'll work
on you taking those first steps of what I believe will be
an incredible journey.

| Assessments for You |
 |
The assessments part of my site has also become
hugely popular, so I'm featuring them again here to help
you prepare for your consultation. Just to remind you,
these wonderful tools were developed by Coach
U., where I received my training, and they can really
get you thinking about where you most need to make
change happen in your life. Enjoy, and I look forward to
talking to you next Friday!

"...a writer worth watching."
--People Magazine
"Scott will most assuredly be recognized for her superb
storytelling."
--Booklist Magazine
"The journey to the end is mesmerizing and the prose is
inviting. Ms. Scott has captured something unspoken in
her first novel. Both heart warming and heart
wrenching, All I Need To Get By is on a different literary
level." --Loose Leaves Book Review
"Lorain, Ohio, is familiar territory to readers of Toni
Morrison, but Sophfronia Scott makes it her own. "All I
Need to Get By" is a stunning debut, a story of family
and memory, and the stories we tell about both in order
to "get by." The novel is equal parts profundity, humor,
and grace, and its author promises to take a place
among the best writers of her generation." --Professor
Henry Louis Gates Jr., Harvard University
